About
My name is Christopher A.Wright and this is my blog. Yeah.
I’ve been on the web since, ooh, the early nineties. I was there when Demon tech support had to explain downloading Trumpet Winsock over a terminal connection so that you could start the long process of trying to run Mozilla and “see the pictures and things”. CompuServe was It. According to the Japan Times I was responsible for the first online trading site. I don’t know if I was, but I still have email dialogue archived somewhere between me and a developer at a certain bookseller discussing whether “cart” or “basket” was the best analogy for ecommerce sites. I’ve got a lot of milage out that hairbrush story.
But, in spite of being there at the beginning, the very start of the gold rush, most of my ventures were ad-ventures rather than profitable ones. So hey, it took me a while to find my feet – it was a good ride along the way though to where I am now.
Outsiderism
Today my blog is called Outsiderism. I understand that smacks a bit of standard non-compiance but it’s not really where I’m coming from. It’s been a feature of my business career, to be an outsider. In the cottage beauty industry I was the international trade guy fresh out of Uni with a 2:1 European Business BA, in Tokyo and the USA I was the European and in England I’ve been all kinds of things..
The point is I’ve grown to embrace being the outsider, in modern parlance it gives me a hall pass to be disruptive in the industries I work in, and that rather fits with all the good’n'bad of being an entrepreneur.
This blog is the observations I pick up along the way, coloured by my outsideristic opinion. Thanks for reading, I’d appreciate your commentary :)
